The Horsleys Spring

Horsley u3a is a self-help voluntary organisation without any age limits or restrictions other than members must have retired or are no longer in full time work or have never worked.  It was set up in 2008 to serve East and West Horsley and surrounding areas in Surrey,

The motto of u3a is “learn, laugh, live” and it provides a wide range of educational, social, creative and leisure interests in a friendly and informal environment for over 600 members. Many of our activities were curtailed because of the Covid pandemic but I am delighted to say that through the hard work and dedication of our Committee and Group Leaders and helpers we are almost back to normal.

If you already live in the area, or have recently moved here, u3a offers an excellent way of meeting people and making new friends.  Perhaps you would be able to use more fully some talents that you have, or would like to further your particular interests, or maybe you fancy trying something new, whether it be sports, writing, art, film, music, travel, crafts, board games etc.  Currently there are almost 60 specialist  Activity Groups and meetings range from small groups in member’s houses to our monthly meeting for all members with invited speakers held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except August and December) in the East Horsley Village Hall which is open from 9.45am with free refreshments offered.  The talks start at 10.30 am.

We also organise theatre visits and special events such as an Annual Quiz Evening which are open to all members.   We also hope to re-introduce outings to places of cultural and historical interest.  You may be interested in other lectures, Study Days and Summer Schools organised by the wider u3a Network.

Whether you are an existing member or a new member or simply looking to see what is on offer, you will find here all the information you need.  For details of membership click Contact Us. If you do not find what you are looking for please contact us to see if we can help. If you think you have skills or experience that may be relevant in running u3a or one of its activities we would love to discuss this with you to explore how you can become involved. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and openness so please rest assured you will always receive a very warm welcome.
