Transport and Industrial Archaeology
Peter Bennett-Davies
Meetings: second Wednesday of each month (9.30 for 10am start) January to April and September to December.
Outings: dates as notified
Meetings normally held in Wesley Meeting Room at West Horsley Methodist Church but the September 2026 meeting will be in the Lovelace Room at East Horsley Village Hall
A relaxed friendly atmosphere is the mark of our meetings. The annual programme of talks endeavours to cover a wide range of subjects.
Members are encouraged to give a talk either on either a key interest relating to transport or industrial history or their career.
Last year’s outings included 2 popular full day outings by coach:
- a very interesting full day visit by coach to Chatham Historic Dockyard on a sunny June day.
- a visit to Bletchley Park, the top secret wartime message intercept / decoding centre
For non coach trips, travel to venues is by car (sharing basis) or public transport. Lunch and refreshments are taken in either an on-site cafe or at a local pub, in a convivial atmosphere! Full details of our 2026 meeting and visit programme are given on our TIAG webpage on the Horsley u3a website, and on the website calendar.
Peter Bennett-Davies, current Group Leader, welcomes offers of and suggestions for talks, speakers and destinations for visits.
The 2026 meetings Programme and Group outings is shown below.
